
Marcel Longmire has served as the Director of Maintenance at Central Contra Costa Transit Authority (County Connection) since 2021. With a career spanning over two decades in public transit and municipal fleet management, Marcel brings a deep commitment to operational excellence and community service.
He began his transit journey at VIA Metropolitan Transit, starting on the graveyard shift cleaning buses. Through determination and hard work, Marcel advanced through VIA’s Targeted Maintenance Training Program, becoming a transit mechanic. His technical skill and teamwork earned him national recognition, as he competed and won two APTA International Bus Roadeo Championships as a member of Team VIA.
From 2016 to 2021, Marcel stepped away from transit to lead the maintenance department for the City of Richmond in Northern California, where he gained valuable experience managing a diverse municipal fleet. He returned to the transit industry in 2021 to assume his current leadership role at County Connection.
A dedicated public servant, Marcel is passionate about improving service reliability and safety for the community. He recently completed the Transit & Paratransit Management Certificate Program through the University of the Pacific’s Eberhardt School of Business and the Westgate Center for Leadership and Management Development, further strengthening his leadership and strategic management skills.
