Board Member

Derek Donnell

Derek Donnell serves as a board member of the California Transit Training Consortium (CTTC), bringing nearly two decades of experience in transit operations, training, and safety. As the Manager of Transit Operations at Norwalk Transit System, Mr. Donnell oversees daily transit operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and service reliability for one of Southern California’s key municipal transit agencies.

Before joining Norwalk Transit System in 2016, Mr. Donnell held leadership roles in transit training and safety, including serving as Transit Training & Safety Supervisor for the City of Gardena (2013–2016) and Training Supervisor at Long Beach Transit (2004–2013). His extensive experience in training and workforce development has positioned him as a key advocate for professional education and skill-building in the transit industry.

As a Leadership APTA 2024 graduate, Mr. Donnell is committed to advancing best practices in transit management and workforce development. His role at CTTC focuses on expanding training opportunities for transit professionals across California, ensuring that operators, supervisors, and leaders receive the necessary education to enhance public transportation services.

With a deep understanding of safety, compliance, and operational excellence, Mr. Donnell contributes valuable insights to CTTC’s mission of strengthening transit workforce training. His leadership supports initiatives that equip transit professionals with the skills needed to navigate evolving industry challenges, ultimately improving public transportation efficiency and safety throughout the state.
